Description:
MEKA is a San Francisco, California based designer and manufacturer of personal electric vehicles. The company was founded on March 25th, 2021 by Sophia Tung, a former Twitter engineer, and Wing Chuen Lam, a former ML engineer.
History:
MEKA actually started out in late 2020 as a small modshop specializing in developing a DIY kit for modifying Boosted Revs, called WingMods. Recognizing that there would eventually not be anymore Rev frames generally available and that there was a gap left in the market for a Rev replacement, WingMods pivoted, sunsetting the old business and starting up MEKA in order to create such a replacement.
After raising a seed round and votes of confidence from such notable entities as Minimotors USA and Boosted USA, and being advised by ex-Boosted, Skip, and Minimotors executives, MEKA got to work designing a powerful yet compact electric scooter and universal vehicle platform. In May of 2023, MEKA was acquired by Revolution Brands International LLC. Then in a first-of-its-kind brand collaboration with Aston Martin, MEKA unveiled Falkor and the MEKA platform to the world in late 2023 after more than two years of research and development.
